Jay Delvie

I live in a suburb of San Diego and will graduate from Poway High School in June.  I am headed to Saint Louis University in the fall to study Nursing, with hopes to continue to graduate school and become a Family Nurse Practitioner.  I spend my all-too-little time away from school hiking and going to the beach with friends.  I enjoy doing community service like building houses in Mexico, helping the other kids at school through Peer Counseling and many projects through Boy Scouts where I earned my Eagle Rank.

The inspirational quote that I live by is “Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”    Ferris Bueller

Mason Smith

I plan on attending Tennessee State University to study Mass Communications/Journalism. My ultimate goal is to be a sportscaster for ESPN. I have had the opportunity to hone my skills through the Rockdale Career Academy's Sports Broadcasting Institute where we film and provide commentary on different athletic events. I also create highlight videos for different athletes who are trying to get recruited. I love basketball. After being cut from the team during middle school twice, I worked really hard the summer before my 9th grade year. I am happy to say that I subsequently made the 9th grade team, JV team, and Varsity team. I played all 4 years of high school which was no easy feat considering I am 5'7 which is not exactly NBA height.

Favorite Quote: You have to sacrifice who you are for who you can be.

Hamayel Safi

I plan on continuing my education at George Mason University in the Fall of 2017. I will be majoring in Biology and minoring in Neuroscience.

I enjoy making choreographies and participating in dances that would be performed at an event. I mainly choreograph Bollywood dances or traditional Afghan dances, as well as participating in them. Besides dancing, I love being around family and going to the parks to have a picnic and play outdoor sports: Football, Soccer, and Volleyball. Another hobby that I enjoy is speaking, having the opportunity to give speeches at events. I am also very fond of traveling. Seeing parts of the world, excites me because this world has so much to offer and we as a humanity are only able to see a small portion of the world.

One quote that sticks to me very often is about the idea of spreading light. Edith Wharton once said, “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it”. A light can be seen as wisdom and happiness, however, light can only go so far in this world. When one is a reflection of wisdom and happiness, they will be able to reflect that light for others for eternity.
