The week before the race I was losing sleep and stressing about every last minute detail. Were the maps printed so our course volunteers would know where they were stationed? Would my amazing 5K Committee remember their tables, baskets to raffle... Would I oversleep because I had to be up super early at the school to get everything ready for the race? It all seems so trivial at this point as I look back at what an amazing event we had and all the amazing people that came out to support The Quincy Conner Foundation. Looking at all of the photos and videos makes me proud. Elated. Beyond joyful.
Sometimes, like race day, I feel like Quincy should just be there. Plain and simple. He should be there. But, that's just not how it is. But, I know wherever he is, he is watching us and cheering all of us on. He may not be here, but he is the ONE reason that I get to see so many of my friends and family twice a year. He is the reason I call so many of my friends family.
I am richer for the experience as a Board member of TQCF. I am even richer to be surrounded by the amazing group of people that joined us for the 5K for Quincy. To those of you who traveled thousands of miles to join us, got up early to get the kids ready, those that had to get babysitters... I personally want to thank each of you for your efforts. Thank you for spending your Saturday morning with us. Thank you for being there to celebrate our friend.
